There’s No Place Like Homecoming at Viewpoint

Viewpoint’s annual Spirit Week and Homecoming football game has always been one of the highlights of the school year. From our youngest TK students to our seniors and their families, these beloved school traditions give our community the opportunity to gather and celebrate their Patriot Pride all week long.

Spirit Week kicked off on Monday, October 16, offering the chance for students and faculty to engage in daily themes and on-campus activities. Throughout the week, Middle and Upper School students immersed themselves in themes like Music Monday, Cozy Pajama Day, Swiftie vs. Kelce, and Jersey Day, among others. Unity Day, dedicated to putting an end to bullying, was observed by the entire Viewpoint student body, who proudly sported the color orange on Wednesday, October 18, in support of PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center's initiative.

"Community plays a crucial role in our lives as individuals. As adolescents, it's especially important to be part of a supportive community,” said Skylar Helfer '26. “Spirit week really makes you feel included and present."

Middle and Upper School students participated in various on-campus activities, including a poster making contest, a DEI assembly, a football scavenger hunt, banner making, dodgeball, and a pep rally. Meanwhile, Lower and Primary School students also embraced a variety of engaging activities, which included crafting posters for the spirit assembly, rehearsing and presenting musical performances, and receiving special trading cards from US football players and cheerleaders.

Spirit week wrapped up on Friday, October 20 just in time for our annual Homecoming football game. The pre-game show began at 6:30 p.m., featuring the Primary and Lower School Chorus performance, the Pep Band performing the Viewpoint Fight Song, and a special moment to honor the seniors by the coaches. The Upper School Concert Choir then performed the National Anthem.

The game officially kicked off at 7:00 p.m. and was followed by an exciting halftime show, which included performances by the cheerleaders and the Upper School Dance Company, as well as the presentation of the Homecoming Court. The Viewpoint Patriots won against Herbert Hoover High School with a final score of 21-13.

"Homecoming is a unique high school experience. Whether or not you're a Viewpoint student, the atmosphere is incredibly enjoyable, with great food, music, and endless activities. There's never a dull moment," Mishka Rathi '26 expressed.
